If scientists discovered that trees and plants feel pain, they'd just experiment on them like they do with animals now. Wouldn't make a slight bit of difference. Plus they'd never tell Joe Public about it.

Plants are living organisms which means they may actually feel pain to some extent.
However i doubt this would change anything, scientists don't care about how much pain something or someone feels as long as they get what they want.

Well for starters it would revolutionise the biology field as pain is traditionally associated with advanced central nervous systems which plants in general are noted for their lack thereof.

Nothing, we know animals feel pain and still treat them awfully, we know humans feel pain but still don't act with anything other than contempt towards each other.
