i do not get geometry. the teacher says the only way to be successful in the class is to memorize every theorem and postulate but theres like 200!! i really don't think its my fault though. last year i got an A in math because the teacher always gave detailed notes, labeled things, and spent time on things we didnt understand. this year all the teacher does is write examples on the board, the examples she uses are from the book so we already have the answers, and she just says read the lesson and do problems.... i fail like all tests i tried askin for help but i just dont get it its not like im not trying also sometimes i dont have time to read every single lesson i think she should tell us whats in the lesson in class or whats the point of the class. so is it really all my fault? and what can i do to fix this?

Carol Chomsky in her article says "children should learn how to write first and then read later?"
How can I teach a child to write before they learn to read? I know that this might be a controversial issue as others might believe differently, but if i was to try this idea in my classroom, what are some activities or lessons in which i could teach children (pre-K - grade one) how to write before they learn how to read?

I love teaching and I am teaching for the past decade. I have taught to students with varied background (doctors to school children) and of various ages. I am a doctor myself but have decided to change my profession to become a school teacher. I am currently in the US and would like to get a teacher certificate/license. Would it be possible, if yes, how? if not, what are the options?

The average teacher salary in Michigan, for 2005-2006 was $56,973, only California, Conneticut, and DC were higher. A 10% cut would make it $51,275, which would make them the thirteenth highest paid. Would this help Michigan's financial problems?

If they go on strike, fire them. There are 37 states with teacher salaries lower than the new, reduced Michigan salaries, and teachers in those states would be happy to go to Michigan for a pay raise.

I've got most of my background in retail management with a one year stint teaching computers at a vocational tech college. I want to teach university level, but I'm getting a very late start (I'm 34), and I'm not sure a PhD is in my future. I should have my B.A. in English by Summer 2008 and plan to work on my masters (in what exactly, I'm not sure) after that. I was thinking of teaching high school or even community college, but I'm not sure teaching is my long-term vocational calling. I think educational administration might be more up my alley, combining education with my management experience. I can move anywhere in the U.S. ONCE - we are open to where, but I don't want to haul my kids around a bunch of different places. I'm wondering where I'll find the best job market, and what educational path to take to get there. Thanks!

I wanted to know how you become a teacher in the USA. I'm from Scotland and have been thinking about teaching (High School) from a long time. Over here, generally speaking you get a Degree in the subject you want to teach (4 years) and then a Post Grad in High School teaching (1 year). Then you are a teacher.

I want to know the route you need to take over in the USA to teach there. I want to teach either History, Art and English. Or a combination of them. Please let me know

As a teacher of 8 years, I am having trouble understanding how anyone in their right mind would think the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) is actually working. Every child is different, and therefore, every child learns differently. How could a child with a 60 IQ possibly function on the same level as a child with a normal or above average IQ? Any thoughts concerning this matter?
