I have just come back from teaching abroad and need work - but am concerned about being able to get a police check. Any advice or experience to share? Any good agencies (or bad ones for that matter)
I live in the Midlands.
Thanks in advance.

I'm science supply, am absolutely bombarded with offers, your agency will give you the CRB form to fill in, it can cope no probs with abroad, you can teach while waiting for clearance as long as the agency moniter the progress of the check (easy to do on the website if you know the form number thus worth you doing too) the agency will probably ask you to pay for the check but a good agency will refund it to you if you get work through them. You only need one so if you sign up with multiple agencies check that they are happy to transfer details and don't pay each time.

I'm with axcis and tradewind, I know they're not just london so see whether they cover your area, Hays education are around too (although I didn't like them) and there's e-teach, there's loads just search the web, good luck!

surely the police check shouldnt be a problem .the school you go to will get that done ... my wife is a teacher in morecambe /lancs and there are no jobs going at all around here..... if one does come up loads of people go for it... i think its because the teaching collage is just up the road so when people come for training they stay in the area.
good luck in finding a school you like.
