I am tired of bad teachers staying and good teachers going to find another job. I laso think they let some teachers work too long. The older they get the more grouchy. I wish they would let it be vote on. I also think teachers shouldnt be aloud to have their own child as a student in class. They are getting so picky about students wearing uniforms and forcing them to learn more and more ahead of time but they dont even drug teats the teachers! WHO AGREES???

motivational strategey. I was inspired by the Harry Potter books. I teach music grades 1-5 and was thinking of dividing my students into "houses" or "teams" that could work to earn points or would lose points depending on behavior and accomplishments. I also have lunch duty, so it could transfer into that.

One person I mentioned this to said it would divide the students too much, what do you think?

Also, do you have suggestions of any other motivational strategies, possibly including the classroom teachers?

A few years ago I worked for a year part-time as a tutor/teaching assistant for a 2nd grade class. On my last day, the 26 children in the class gave me very sweet goodbye cards/letters/etc. made out of construction paper and other materials (some of them very large). I smile every time I read them, but I feel like they're adding to the clutter in my house. Is it okay to throw them out? or should I hold on to them for memory?

K so I am not a trained teacher, but I absolutely love art. Well I taught three quarters last year, we did various things - sketching eachother, worked on the features of the face. We did a big project in recreating paintings in acrylic it was ok. They asked me to teach again and I have a few ideas - delving into watercolor, teaching style and practical steps. I really need advise on what to teach, and how to get the students interested. They have to take the class and a lot of them just don't like art. What can I do to intrigue them???Help me please - I beg you!

Okay, so on the last day of school I Sprayed shaving creme on and scratched a teachers
car bumper. they were very small scratches. I get pulled in to the office. My mom comes and they look at the damage. So the car was already badly scratched all the way around.
He says that he wont press charges and wont blame me for anything if some thing else happens to his car. Okay so a day later he calls and says that the price to fix it is $2000. A few days later i come home from downtown and he calls and says that all his tires are popped and he wants us to pay for it. thats another 600.
so we have a meeting with the superentendent
and the teacher goes on about how i almost killed him and his girl freind on the freeway becuase of the tires i didnt pop. he says then that he is going to press charges against me any way. he promised my mother that he wouldnt. The reason i was so mad at him was becuase i felt that he would always be taunting me in class about how i think hes an asshole.

In America, the average politician makes only about $20,000 per year compared to the average salary of $50,000 for teachers.

Considering that politicians have to do so much work including campaigning for elections and making decisions while all teachers do is sit, talk and write, isn't this a bit unfair?

Hi
i am due to start my final year of uni in september, and i starting to think about jobs that i can use my degree my degree is BA(QTS)primary & special needs. The obvious choice would be teaching seeing as it is a teaching degree however there is a lack of primary teaching jobs in my area and i can not afford to move away just yet so unless i strike really lucky there is no way i am goin to get a teaching job! the only other jobs that i can think of to use my degree are
teaching assistant
portage worker
learning mentor
if anyone can think of any other interesting, rewarding, or jobs that will use my degree i would be very grateful if you could let me know.

Thanks Sandra

My professor uses the cold call technique in class. I can understand it to an extent, to make sure people do their readings. However, it's not only for assignments, it's for any thing throughout the lecture that may come up.

A few times I've been called on and given the wrong answer, in which it's turned into a joke and classmates have laughed.

I learn the answer, but feel down afterwards thinking how can I come back to the same class every week with these peoples lowered opinion of me. I don't feel more educated, I feel the opposite.

Is there some good I should be extracting from this style of teaching?

Again, this is not based on course material all the time. Perhaps it's on something we *should* know, but...

I lost my job due to budget cuts and have had no luck in finding a position so far. I spoke with my district and they said they may have a couple of openings but asked if I would take a teacher's aid position if nothing came open. I could work on my Master's if I take the job and have insurance or I could draw a bigger check--unemployment with no insurance and go back to school.

I have a friend, and he can do anything else...except spell. Otherwise he is a great reader...and can pronounce words better than anyone I know. He is a mechanic, a welder and he's completely just awsome at about anything. He's 17 years old, and for a long time did not know he was dyslexic. Im closest to him, and he has asked me to help him learn how to spell. I have made my own plans on ways to teach him, but I love him to death and will try anything that works. Please help me out anyone who can? Id highly respect that.

Please no snotty *** remarks...I'm just trying to help a friend. And yes, later on, he's gonna go and get professional help but he wants my help on the side for sure.

I have been doing research on this for a while now and am having trouble finding exactly what I am looking for.

I am thinking of going into anthropology and am going to use this experience to help make my decision. As such, I do not want to teach in a big city, and I do not want to live in a dorm with other teachers. I want to live with a host family in a poor area, preferably rural.

I cannot afford to pay for the whole trip, so I need to find something that will pay me. I am not looking to make a profit - so long as I break even on living expenses while I am there, I'll be happy.

I am not picky about what country I go to. I would prefer something in Asia, but if that is not possible I am open to going elsewhere. I would like to teach for three to six months if possible.

Thanks to anyone who can give me some advice and point me in the right direction!
