Teachers --
How do you help your general ed. students become more accepting of your special needs students? Do you have a particular strategy/incorporate a certain activity that has proven successful for you? Please reply with your idea(s). Thank you :-)

Since September I have worked as a Kindergarten teacher at a day care with a private kindergarten. I have my bachelors degree in Elementary Education and I want to be in a public school. Because where I work now is a day care, it is a full time position and I am currently doing summer camp. The work enviornment has become awful and boarders harassment (the directors son is in summer camp and is not very well behaved, I went to speak with her about it almost a month ago and she has treated me like crap ever since because I am "picking on her son"). I have two interviews this Wednesday for public school positions and I know that I will be fired if I call in sick or ask off. I have decided to quit for numorous reasons but I'm not sure how giving the cercumstances. Should I give them a two weeks notice tomorrow then call in sick on Wednesday, or should I just quit tomorrow? I will not be using them as a reference.

Within the context of education, what is the difference between a game and an activity?

I teach English as a Second language, and I'm hard pressed trying to define the two. Games in some textbooks are labeled activities and vise versa.

Which states can you teach with a bachelors degree without being state certified? I know in my state you have to take a test to become a teacher.

Asking an across-the-level question (primary, secondary, post-secondary).. do you get (or did you) get paid enough as a new teacher to pay off your student loans?

How did your pay increase later on? I am interested in teaching, but I'm 60k in debt from the Bachelors and MS (bio) degrees, and I still would need to be certified! I know there's a shortage of well-educated science teachers, so I'm definitely looking into this -- on the other hand, I don't want to have to live in poverty to make my student loan payments (I already do that as a graduate student)

Thoughts?

I am strongly considering becoming a teacher, and one of the places that comes to mind is the inner-city. I figured I want to live in the city, so this might be a place to teach. However, I've seen questions on here about how people are tired of movies with white teachers coming in and saving all the poor black kids and this leads me to some questions. In inner-city schools, how important is race? How do students(African American) respond to white teachers? I figure that each individual differs, but is there anyone on here that has experience with this? I know there are a lot of factors such as individual students/teachers/teaching methods, but I'm more talking about just ingeneral.

I received my sons school report today and I am concerned that my son has fallen behind. Most of the subjects are ticked either Not yet able or Developing skills. This makes me think he is not at the level he should be. However when I have been to the parent-teacher evenings and asked at what level he is working the teacher will only say he is in line with the national curriculum. I know he is easily distracted at school and does not complete all the work set for him and have raised the subject with the teacher but I feel nothing is being done. I know they can't concentrate on him soley but feel they just leave him to sit at the table and get on with it knowing that at the end of the lesson he will have done no more than write his name, date and a couple of lines.
are there any primary school teachers who can explain the school report and tell me whether my concerns are justified
