Which states can you teach with a bachelors degree without being state certified? I know in my state you have to take a test to become a teacher.

Yes, there has to be some form of testing or certification process to get you certified. You can't just have a bachelor's degree and be qualified. Some schools may hire you without certification, such as on an emergency basis, but you would be required to obtain some sort of emergency certification then work toward obtaining regular certification. If you are really interested in getting a teaching job but you are not certified, look for your state's certification website. That will get you a whole lot of information.

Oh, by the way, in Texas, yes you do have to take a test, but that is not what gets you certified. You actully have to either obtain a bachelor's degree in education or go through an alternative certification program. As part of both of these, you do take a test, then you must apply for certification. Once you have certification through a bachelors or alternative certification in one area, then you can take as many tests as you want to in other areas. All you have to do is pass them, then apply for certification in those areas.

Umm, I think with No Child Left Behind that you have to be certified in any state in the U.S. now.
In Louisiana, there is no test to be certified. You have to take all your Praxis tests, that would be the 3 PPST ones, Content Knowledge and then a last one in your area of certification. Once you pass all those, you student teach, and then you are certified.

I hear in Texas you must pass the Texas test as well in order to be certified.

I do believe that all have certification requirements. Here's a school that collected much of the information for each state:
