looking for ideas for classroom management. I heard from my co-workers that some kids will get rowdy and out of control. kinda worried. Classes are going to start soon, how do I enforce good discipline in the classroom without being too fierce ? Does reward systems work well? Any suggestions for a workable reward system plan? The children I will be dealing with will be around 7 to 14 years old.

I am conducting a small scale project and would appreciate any views which are directed to the subject of ICT and/or teaching in general.

Obviously I will have my own views and am aware of the 'text-book' type of answers but wanted to hear from anyone directly and inderectly involved in teaching ICT, whatever age group is taught.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Let me clarify: How crucial is it to have one teacher or a team of teachers that stick around with the same group of students for an extended period of time? When you change around teachers, does it affect the child's ability to develop a trust and a bond with that person? I'm involved in an organization that works with children, but we are rotating the staff around so much that I think students may be dropping out because of it. Is this a valid point?

I am doing a debate for school on why or why not intelligent design should be taught in school and i am the con side, unfortunatly if anything i would be the for teaching intelligent design in school. So i am having some troubles figuring why people would disagree on teaching intelligent design in public schools but not evolution.

I teach four 65 minute reading classes. I do not have my own room, rather I "float" from room to room so whatever materials I use, I must take with me. That in mind, I am totally lost as to what to do. I have the curriculum knowledge, I just don't know how to put it together. I do not want to fall into the trap of reading a story and answering the questions. I would love to do small groups with a variety of stations, but I can't bring those materials to three different rooms. Plus the students misbehave if they aren't watched closely. I am plannign to read a story on the Fitzgerald that sunk in the great lakes in the 70's next. I also use critical thinking news articles twice per week. So my question is what to do the other three days? I would like to break the period into chunks so we do not spend the entire period on one thing. We have bellwork for the first five minutes but the rest is up in the air.

I'm a 8th grade teacher for science and I have a student who has been blabbering ridiculous things, distracting others, not doing assignments, bullying others, doing disgusting things, and cursing. I've reported him to the principal about 7 times already! Never have I seen a student like that in all my 6 years of teaching. Every single second in my class I have to keep my eyes on him even when I am teaching the class. I have met up with some of his previous teachers and they have thought the same thing as me.Mrs.Clarkson, his 4th grade teacher had to give him 18 zeros on his report card. What should I do with him?

Many of these teachers have accents. Recently, after receiving their children’s upcoming class schedules in the mail, several parents have called the guidance department to request changes to their children’s class schedule so they do not have teachers who speak with accents. The principal has denied these requests. Do you Agree with This??
