Yes and No!... Strictly speaking skill wise, NO! You cannot be "over educated" or "Over Qualified." The more you know, the better. But when it comes to money and and economy, YES! You can. Because the more you know, the more you are worth, and the more you are worth, the more an employer would have to pay you! So it really depends on which view you want to take!

If you mean the same as being overqualified for a job, then I would say yes. But if you strictly mean overeducated then no. You may be very well-educated and overqualified for a job but there are things that you can't learn in the classroom. You learn new things everyday and the best things you can learn are not taught in class.

Yes. If you know too much, you try to do better than need be, and end up messing it up. If someone is applying to work as a preschool teacher, and was trained to be a college professor, they would be over educated. Who would want a college professor teaching their two year old? If someone is applying for work in a law office or something, then that is different. You would need as much training as you could get, since it all depends on how well you can argue your point and how well you know the law.
It all depends on whether the job the person is applying for is a higher job, requiring many years of professional study, or a normal, average person's job, where common sense is often more appreciated and useful than a college degree.
Hope this helps!

Depending on the position but yes, I have seen it happend..overqualified. If someone is trying for a supervisor position and they only want someone with a BA in anything, and say a PhD applies, they will think the person will soon want a higher position and not be happy with their current hired on position.

we do what we have to do.
i would bus tables to survive if it was my best option.
but i would prefer to do something that takes advantage
of different skills....
you of course don't need a phd in chemistry to wash dishes.
it's a different kind of skill.
