During the Elizabethan era there were three different types of venues, which included: the Inn-yards, Open Air Amphitheaters, and Playhouses. The Inn-yards was one of the original venues, but some of them were alter into Playhouses. The Amphitheaters were made for the summer months and when it was time for winter, they would move into the indoor playhouses.

Anyone here an ESOL teacher in the California public school system? If so, what is it like? In elementary school do you pull out the children from the classrooms? Do you get paid the same amount as regular teachers? And how do I go about getting an ESOL degree in CA?

I want to go to school to be an elementary school teacher but, I don't understand how they get paid. Do they get paid for the 10 months that they work or do they get paid for the whole year (12 months) even though they are not working 2 of those months. If a teacher could answer my question that would be great.

I am teaching 9th grade and for one day I have to do a whole study on Mexico. My class will be with me for 80 minutes, and I want to fill up that whole time with fun activites that let the kids interact and learn about Mexico and its past. I was thinnking of using "Jeopardy" as a game to help the kids learn. Basically I will separate the kids into teams and ask them questions, earning them candy if they are correct. This isn't enough to fill the whole day though...what other activites should I do? I would appreciate the help...A New Teacher

im doing a research paper about teachers touching children (in positive, non-sexual ways), and given the anxiety about child sexual abuse, do you guys think that there should be touch policies regarding teachers touching young children in school (preschool and elementary school) and young childcare settings? Should touch be allowed, or should there be a no-touch policy? Should touch be limited? Should touch be able to be used freely (given that its not sexual or physically abusive)? Any and all opinions will help me open my mind to alternate views and ideas that I havent come across in the literature and in my own thinking. Thanks!!

I am a middle school severe ebd teacher. The levels of my students are about 10-12 years old. I want to start teaching through the back door. By "the back door" I mean I want to start teaching using projects. For example, do cooking because it teaches math, design a house and build it (measuring and writing), go to walgreens.com and design a calendar using pictures, turn the classroom into a mini-business, etc. My question is does anyone have any resources for these types of ideas or no where I can find more ideas. The paper and pencil thing just isn't working for my students. Thank you!
