I am moving from Alaska to Southern California is July. I will be graduating from a Masters of Arts and Teaching program with a Social Studies credential come May. I wanted to know when I get my credential whether or not I will have to take any additional classes if I apply to get a CA credential. Anyone out there made the move from AK to CA?

I moved from Alaska but am in the IT field.. why don't you check out the California State Board of Education page

Well I might be doing something similar. It looks like CA has something for those who already have their certifications from out of state. I haven't been able to naviagate through all of it yet but it looks like it depends on how much teaching experience you have and if you're certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. No, you need a whole new credential once you get to california.
