I have a 8 year old son that is having alot of trouble with reading, he is 2 grade levels behind. We work with him at home at school and he is not catching on. We were thinking of enrolling him into Sylvan Learning center. I have only heard two mixed reviews on it, So have you ever been there or heard anything about it. Let me know, cause it is $50. hour..OUCH... Is it really worth It??

I am a new teacher who received her master's degree in education. I am finding that the school districts in the area are descriminating against master's degrees. I am wondering if getting additional middle school endorsements would make a difference. I'm not sure who I should ask for educational advise.

I need some activities using math software to simply take up some time at the end of a class period. It doesn't have to be anything detailed, just a simple activity. Maybe something using Geometer's Sketchpad?

My daughter is in 6th (sixth) grade, and her teacher has just started having them read Murder on the Orient Express. She is in an excelerated classroom but isn't this a little much for an 11 year old...am I crazy in thinking so or is her teacher the crazy one?
