I am a new teacher who received her master's degree in education. I am finding that the school districts in the area are descriminating against master's degrees. I am wondering if getting additional middle school endorsements would make a difference. I'm not sure who I should ask for educational advise.

it all depends. in smaller towns etc, teaching can be competitive. you already have a m.ed so i wouldn't do any further endorsements, because schools can hire you and then pay for you to take any additional req.

have you tried private schools and charter schools in addition to public schools. in your m.ed program did you have any professors that may know prinicpal's in your program that can help you? or what about when you observed or did student teaching, could you talk to the prinicpal at that school? don't give up, you will find exactly what your looking for soon.

Of course they do not want to pay you (as an inexperienced teacher) a Masters Degree salary.

I (same, once upon a time boat) would get a job in a parochial school (read>little or no pay) for two or three years. With that experience and a Masters you will be in demand.

Good luck!

Most schools want a teacher with a Master's because it looks good on their annual report to have a high % of teachers with masters. Don't believe the bull about them not hiring you because you'll make more money.
Keep looking, and good luck!

They are? Usually they take instructors with Master Degrees the minute you walk in.

Where I'm from, you'd be hard pressed to get a teaching job without a masters. that's crazy that they would be discriminating.
