My son is considering Education...also, how much for teaching in a community college vs. state college or private university?

I could tell you what a History secondary school teacher makes in Rhode Island - but if you want any area in the Southeast the best site to go is at the American Federation of Teachers for average salaries for school teachers http://www.aft.org/presscenter/releases/2005/salary_map.htm

It depends where you are. Starting salary in larger cities (atlanta) for teachers with a bachelor's degree is about 30k, but expect less in rural areas.

i live in the washington d.c. area and at the least a full time teacher in a comm college can make 60k.

this is so not fair.... teachers in europe are so underpaind... I work my but of for less that 40 k a year.
