In a small island republic where they started off very rich due to a certain mineral and now are poor due to the resource no longer a major government revenue. The students studying University level courses have a very laid back attitude toward their work. They also tend to procrastinate a lot. There is a lot of hope for the future but the people and the students do not realise the potential.

No witnesses to the accident have come forward yet, despite the police's appeal.

My problems are:
1. since there's no witness, why the sentence use no witnesses
2. there are no witnesses, why use 'have' not 'has' to be the verb?

Thank you very much.

If so, how is it going for you? Do you like it and is it working? How long has your school had this program?

Hi,

I'm a college student and I'm getting ready to go out on my first field observation for my secondary education certification. Thinking about all the things that I'm going to learn, I wanted to pose a question to all of the teachers out there. Is there something that you know now that if you had been told or discovered earlier, that would have made the transition from student to teacher easier? Basically I'm looking for tips and advice from teachers.

Does anyone know what the schools are like in Colorado? I am looking to live in an area where there isn't any added stress on the teachers (provided I continue teaching)...Also, would it be hard to get a job as a teacher or a guidance counselor there?

I teach high school geometry to regular to low level students at a low-income inner city school. I've been using the Kagan cooperative learning techniques, games, making posters, etc. to teach math concepts, but the learning doesn't transfer to better test scores. I've had my AP and other education experts observe my class, and they all say they loved how the kids are learning.
I do see slight improvements like less than 10%, but not nearly the level of improvements that will increase the school ratings, etc. I get about 20% of my students falling asleep during tests because they are only used to the engaging activities. And I get another 40% who can't sit still and guess. The ultimate purpose is for the kids to do better on the state test, but how do you train the students to take tests?

Anybody ever experienced this?

That is you as a teacher are doing what the educational experts suggests and it doesn't seem to work. We teachers end up getting blamed for our teaching.

Just wondered if many teachers have watched the video on Google or The Stuttering Foundation's web site that helps teachers with students who stutter. Kids who stutter need all the support and understanding they can get so they can overcome the stuttering and enjoy life.

Yesterday, the New Paper published an article on a teacher using words like 'STUPID" on her/his students. This is definetely NOT the first time we read about how arrogant out teachers are.How abusive they can be when they can't handle a situation well.JUST who do these teachers think they are? Sadly the principal claimed that she was trying to motivate the student and since been counselled .It was very obvious that the principal too is trying to protect the teachers..If that's the case, i dont think he/she is fit to be the principla too ...the teacher should be given a tougher punishment like suspension for 6 months. They must too be taught a lesson for being arrogant. They DONT hv any rights to do or say nasty things jsut because they are teachers....time to take some serious action...MOE
