I have an interview on Friday to discuss my possbily tutoring an 8th grader on math. He may need to be tutored in other areas as well. The problem is, I don't know what to charge! I am a junior and my major is Education. So I have the knowledge and resorces to help. I'm freaking out a little. Please help!

I would charge $20 an hour, and consider a discount for a second hour if they want it. Maybe $35 for two hours. I assume they will bring the student to you, if not you should charge them time from your door to theirs and back.

I agree with 100% with what Mr. Z said: "The standard going rate for a qualified and certified teacher to tutor is about $35 per hour. However, since you are just a college student, I think $20 to $25 per hour would be ok to ask for. That's about right."

I'd ask for $20.00 an hour. Is this tutoring assignment going through a public school, or a private family? If it is through a school, they will tell you what you are going to be paid.

I answered your other questin to. charge 15 and hour. make sure that you won't get stiffed if the kid leaves early. then i would charge extra for anything else your gonna tutor. like if you agree to science and the kid brings math too, charge an extra dolar

in my opinion your services are worth more than minimum wage. i believe that $10 per hour is fair and should be your minimum asking price. i don't know where you live or the resources of the family, but that is a good starting point. best of luck.
