I need some activities using math software to simply take up some time at the end of a class period. It doesn't have to be anything detailed, just a simple activity. Maybe something using Geometer's Sketchpad?

Well, thanks for assuming that I am just trying to "take up time" and that I apparently have no skill as a teacher. HOWEVER, I am still a student, who is trying to complete an activity file as a CLASS ASSIGNMENT. I was needing 5 activities that could possibly be used at the end of a period if the lesson was completed. The idea of this is that the activity would BUILD UPON the lesson that I have just taught, and by using computer software programs, it would teach the students another skill to solve the day's lessons.

It was an assignment, not necessarily something I will use everyday in my classroom. But hey, we all just learned that assuming does indeed make both an *** out of you AND me.

There is so much you can do with your time at the end of a lesson that would FACILITATE learning, not just consume time. I honestly can't believe that a teacher would even ask this question. I would suggest that you have the students work together in groups to produce a game show like Jeopardy or Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (using PowerPoint- you can find templates online), with word problems related to the unit you're studying. Then, you could use those games to review concepts before the test.

with math skills as low as they are i can't believe a teacher would ask for some "time-consuming" activities to take up time at the end of a class. how hard can it be to engage students in what you are teaching for an hour????
