I'm looking for a school house that an excited 9yr old would play with. I've seen a play tent, a lighted porcelain schoolhouse, and an activity kit shaped like a school house. I guess those would do the trick, but what I was thinking was...

Could anyone show me a site that sells schoolhouse backdrops, so she could play teacher with that as a background?

Are educators not doing their jobs? Is it the students? I was no brain-child in school or anything, but we were taught how to form complete sentences and we learned how to spell words correctly. What is sad is that now-a-days there is spell-check on everything and I still see so many misspelled words!
Why do the youth of America these days seem so uneducated?

My son loves to listen to imaginative stories. He loves space and magic and magical adventures. He has all the popular "Give a Mouse a Cookie" or "Where the Wild Things Are" -type books. I'm looking for something different.

Was told in class that we could pick any topic that we didn't know alot about and research it. However what you studied had to be in a question form...

eg. instead of "the brain"--- it could be "how does the brain work" or "what does the brain do?" etc

so my question is... If you were given the chance to research/study any topic, what would you pick? what would really interest you, that you can't wait to find out more about?

After working at this school for six years, the principal, who is also Hispanic, tells me that he wants to hire a hispanic to take my place, even though I had much more credentials and education than my replacement did. Am I the only one that has experienced this form of reverse discrimination? Am I the only one that thinks it's just wrong to hire someone just because of their ethnicity instead of their credentials. What has gone wrong in a country that allows this kind of think to be the norm? After I was fired from this job, I called up other schools for a job, and they all said that they liked my credentials, but that they had to hire a hispanic because of a quota system the Board of Ed has. I feel so bitter about this. I spent so much time and money to become a highly qualified teacher, and then I can't get a job because I am not of the right ethnicity. I feel so bitter about this. I would have never become a teacher if I had known this sooner.

I own our hometown newspaper, and we're starting a program to encourage junior high and high school students to contribute articles and photos. We are planning to award points for each submission, based on how we used the article or photo. (Top points for front page, lesser points for other pages or website use.) Our plan is to let the kids "cash in" their points for prizes -OR- have specific prizes at certain point levels. What can we offer as prizes that would appeal to this age group and might also tie in with journalism and photography?

NOTE: We are a VERY small town paper. (Our population is 1,300.) We don't have a big budget, and we are having fundraisers to help get a seperate account going for this program, but can't afford a lot of expensive prizes. Maybe one or two for top performers at the end of the year. (Like a digital camera.) We just want to have some incentive to get the kids involved in our hometown paper.

I took the SAT today and was shocked by taking 4 math test instead of 3 like in my princeton review study guide. But on one fo the particular math section was really hard, do you think that section was the statistical one or not necessarily.
2 sections of 18 question
1 section of 16 questions
1 section of 20 questions
so do you think the statistical one is the one with 18 questions? since it appears twice. tell what you know about these thanks.

Okay, so I was looking through my mail from two or three days ago, and I got a letter from Presidential Classroom. The first line reads:

"Congratulations on your inclusion on the High Achiever's List of the College Board's Student Search Service."

I took the PSAT about a month ago, so I'm wondering if this has to do with that, or if it is about my score from last year. (I got an 1800 on the PSAT last year as a sophomore, and I think I did better this year.)
