Does anybody knows how many times a fourth grader can be tested for G.A.T.E.( Gifted and Talented Education Program) once a school year? Please tell me. I want to be tested to G.A.T.E. again!

You should be asking your local school district that question. Our system does placement based on more than one criteria. We check testing scores, grades received on the past semester, and teacher recommendation, as well as other educational areas. We also have an advanced placement test that can be given to students.

It may be different where you are, but for our school district you could only take it once ever other year. For example in second grade I did not pass it, but I could take it again in 4th grade. (I passed that time :) ) Personally, now (I'm in 10th grade) GATE is a waste of time. Our schools really don't do anything with it. All I notice is an @ sign next to my name (meaning I'm a GATE student) on the attendance roster.

In my school district you can be tested ONCE each year. So if you don't pass it one year, you can reapply to have your child tested again.
