Primary & Secondary Education - November 2006

Any of the below will be helpfull! Hi guys I need a lot of info here and its real inportant. I need a Culinary School in Southern CA and need to know these things about them. Minimum Requirements For Admission...such as GPA, SAT or ACT Scores, Corces required, Extra Curricular (iam not even shure if u need any of those things). If there is a Language Requirment like 2 or 3 years of a language. And last if they have study abroad (which I doubt they will). Any Culinary School in Souther CA or even just CA is ok with me. I know this is alot but ty. Any of the Above will be helpfull.

so my mom's last class of the day is full of the worst 7th graders in the entire school, so i hear. she cannot control them, and the LD aide does absolutely nothing, and sometimes sleeps. any help on how to calm down these little brats, before she goes crazy?

i absolutely hate pe. i get nervous a whole night before, like we dont have it till 1:30, and i'm nervous about it now, i absolutely HATE it. i dont know why either.. and i cant take anything else, until tenth grade, any suggestions on how to be better about this situation, i would appreciate if you werent mean, thanks.!

Should there be more public high schools (in the US) with a competitive admissions process?

Examples of such schools are Stuyvesant High School in New York and Lowell High School in San Francisco. Entry to these schools is largely based on GPA and test results (a specially-designed entrance exam for Stuyvesant, and California's standardised exam for Lowell).

Yet, such schools are few in number. In most districts, students and parents have no choice over public schools. Regardless of academic ability, all students in a given area are thrown together in one school. The only way out? Private schools with exorbitant tuitions. Such a system is evidently biased in favour of those who can afford to pay private school tuition.

Of course, people will argue that selective public schools will also disadvantage the poor, certain ethnic groups, etc. However, by comparison, they would still represent an opportunity for bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

-president of two clubs: French club(junior) and European club(Senior)
-AP Scholar award: AP French Language 4, AP World History 3, AP US History 3,
- one year work experience as a bus buy(freshman year)
- no sports but was in jazz band
-extracurricular:running half marathon, learning languages, playing piano, taking private tennis lessons
-50 hours of community service, 130 hours of volunteering as teacher's aide and other.
-taking 4 AP classes this year.

so will UCLA accept me? How is my SAT? is it ok?

im a senior applying to UCLA. My weighted GPA for sophmore and junior is 4.12 but doe sthe GPA from my senior year count? say I get a 4.6 GPA will it raise my weighted gpa from a 4.12 to 4.36.???

The info: I'm a Junior in college now and prepared to get my Bachelor's Degree, but my school has this special program where I can stay for an extra year and get my Master's Degree. I want to teach Social Studies in High School.

The dilemma: If I get the MA, I'm afraid schools will tell me I'm "overqualified" and won't want to hire me because they'd have to pay me more right from the start, when they can pay a teacher with a BA less to do the same thing. BUT if I get the MA, they might see me as better than all the teachers that only got a BA and would be more willing to hire me, assuming I'm going to be a better teacher.

Other dilemma: If I do get a job with the BA, I'm afraid they'll be quick to let me go if I don't do a good enough job because there's teachers with BAs everywhere, I'm no one special. BUT if I have the MA, they also might have higher expectations for me, and let me go if I don't live up to them and assume they could pay someone with a BA to do the same thing.

At the begginig of every school year my school distric gives us angendas or planners and we use them for writing down homework assignments and so forth. I wanted to redo the cover put new pics and stuff on it and it is paper back. I have tried putting covers on it and it doesn't work. Whoever gives the most theme ideas (that I like) will get 10 pts!!!!

My school every year gives us planners/ angendas or whatever you might call them we have to have them too bcause they are hall pasess aswell as the place to write our homework down. Any ways over Christmas vacation I was thinking about putting new ideas to help motivate me to have a good rest of the year. It is paper back and trust me book socks don't work. I was just wondering if you had any ideas for me. I would really appriciate it and I can't wait to get designing.
