Yes, but a private school can refuse to take your child based on the reason for expulsion.
There is the option of the "alternative school." They take all of the kids who have been expelled. It is free. It is a rough environment. The public school is required to transport the child to the alternative school.

I know they can go to 'alternative' high schools with other kids who have problems like that. Some of those are "good" private schools and very understanding. They're not just for kids who are on drugs or pregnant. I think other, more typical private schools may want to see the child's records and they might not accept them based on that.
