We are starting to write many stories and paragraphs and things in language arts. I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion as to how to make a very good essay, what it consists of, what makes a paper flawless, if there are any teachers out there that would be awesome, I'm pretty good with this already but help is always good

I am a teacher at a low income school that is in the process of incorporating Professional Learning Communities. What we have discovered is that as a whole, our student body is not really motivated to learn. Comments are consistently made stating, "We are from .... "We can't do that or learn that. " How do we motivate them without using physical rewards?

YOUR is referring to the person's possessions (i like YOUR shirt, YOUR hair is pretty today). YOU'RE is a shortened version of YOU ARE (YOU'RE going class? i think YOU'RE funny). it annoys me when people say things like, "i think your gonna do fine on your test." it's not YOUR, it's YOU'RE. i think posting this in the primary and secondary education category is appropriate, cuz these are the kinda things you learn during this time...come on people! lol!

I have a very smart 6 year old, that I spend a lot of time teaching myself. She has recently been having a lot of dificulties in writing lower case d's and b's, and I need to come up with a way to help it stick in her mind which is which when writing. She can easily identify them when she sees them, it's when she needs to write them that she gets confused. Any ideas? A limerick or rythm to help her remember which is which?
