We are starting to write many stories and paragraphs and things in language arts. I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion as to how to make a very good essay, what it consists of, what makes a paper flawless, if there are any teachers out there that would be awesome, I'm pretty good with this already but help is always good

When you're introducing your purpose for writing your essay, don't say,"I'm writing this essay because..." That's a waste of time and space because you're supposed to SHOW what you're going to be talking about.

Make sure your sentences are simple and to the point instead of using unnecessary words and wandering away from the main point. Also, have sentences that are of various lengths.

Finally, when you're describing something, use a rich variety of words that will help readers imagine what you're describing.

By following my advice, your writing assignments will automatically improve.

make sure you have an opening paragraph stating the point of your essay. The body should be 3 paragraphs (one for each supporting point) and a closing paragraph restating your point and the supporting arguments. Every paragraph should have an opening sentence and a closing sentence. Make sure you use a variety of sentenses to add flow to your essay. Many teachers (and the curriculum) are looking for "voice" in your essay which means that as your teacher is reading your essay, they "hear" you say it. It really is foolproof with experienced teachers 'cause they can smell a fake 5 sentences in. Proofread your work carefully (preferably the next day) , or better yet have someone else do it. Good luck

In addition to Lynda's excellent suggestions, I'd say a strong thesis is important. When a teacher can see the purpose of your essay up front and how you intend to support what you have to say, it is a sign of a strong writer.

Punctuation, grammar, spelling. Those are very important elements for any essay.
