Primary & Secondary Education - October 2006

I have looked all through books (actuall a book) and the internet and still cannot find the characteristics of a snake and when I do it does not have any detail. The best thing for me would be a diagram but just knowing the characteristics and a little discription is still good.

He's in my group at school and we have to do a play, but he won't rehearse or anything. The teacher can't make him do it, he won't listen and doesn't seem to care about any punishments.

We can't throw him out of the group because we have to be in groups of at least 10 and its a test thing, less than 10 people = fail but we get marked as a group, so his performance will bring our score down.

He's also getting the other 4 boys in the group to act like him, but they work hard when he's not there.

Our school doesn't do Halloween costumes, we do book characters instead. Any ideas on a simple book character costume for an 11 year old boy? I've thought of Encyclopedia brown,but I can't seem to find any costume ideas... he was a regular kid.

Breaking up on 20th and being back at school for halloween & bonfire night?

Being back at school after xmas on 2nd!? The day after New Years and 4 DAYS BEFORE twelfth night?

I know one thing for sure, my kids won't be at school next week and they can go back on 8th Jan after xmas, don't the schools consider public holidays when choosing school holiday dates anymore?

I don't care if the school says they can break-up earlier instead, missing holidays or having to go to bed early on public holidays does is not made up for that easily.

K Well I just started a new year at a brand new school. I'v never really met anyone here. I am a VERY shy person..but I want to become part of the popular crowd. I just don't know what to say to them. Normally I am very outgoing..but that's only if I know you for awhile and feel comfortable around you. Please help me. @ my school we have this thing, if you get in trouble you get 1 point taken off. and so on and so on. well, ive been getting in trouble a lot lately. & now im almost suspended. bc 20 points is in school suspenction and 25 is out of school. and i got 23. but my princebale is gunna let me do charity work to get some of my points taken away. & its only the begginging ofthe year. how to i stay out of trouble?

My son's elementary school has recently begun the practice of cafeteria-wide silent lunches, after sending home a memo requesting that parents limit their visits to the cafeteria. But no memo was sent about the silent lunch policy. If children do speak, they are sent to the "time-out" table, and usually will miss recess as well.

Our PTA president is an employee of the school. Our principal is a "my way or the hiway" type. She wants to shut down the few of us who are aware of this situation. How can we get the word out to parents of 599 students? (Creativity and humor count! :-)
