I think yahoo answers is GREAT! I've learned everything from politics, history, religion all the way through sex education. Stuff I cant share with my parents Ive been able to find the answers. Anyway I've been using a lot of the information already in school. How do I cite it as a reference. Do I say from a source in Yahoo Answers? I just have been writing it in my reports mainly social studies and biology and not saying it came from Yahoo but crediting it to another source. I think all you great people who take the time to give me such good information and advice should get credit for your great work.

In other words, if you live in Hollywood and don't want your child going to Hollywood High, can you just enroll them in Beverly Hills High (as long as you can provide transportation?) I was having a conversation with a friend who insisted that you can choose your child's high school and don't have to send them to the one closest to where you live - I don't think that is the way it works, but I'd like to hear from anyone who might know or any teachers/CA high school administrators who could shed some light. Thanks!

There is an undeniable crisis in public education today. There is an ever increasing chasm between societal changes and our schools ability to effectively educate our children. It is unbridgeable with our present methods. We assert that modern public education in the United States is completely lost in Minos' Maze. We have also lost Ariadne's golden cord. Through endless testing, labels, misguided research and less than dismal leadership, we are blindly and foolishly rushing further and further into the maze towards our inevitable demise at the horns of the Minotaur.

Kids go to school and get pumped full of memory testing processes. All pupils are considered as a homegenous lump with standard academic subjects as their 'choice' which is decided by policitians.

I always thought people were different and not 'bricks in a wall' so I have thought of a new way.

Scrap the subjects and related testing and try to ascertain the intention of education - to arm the brain with a range of cognitive skills.

Such skills include: reasoning, team work, communication, application of knowledge, etc. Why not try to build upon these skills?

In addition, some pupils may not be 'geared' to academic endevour but may be highly skilled in arts, crafts, and hands-on topics.

I propose a new education whereby the individual skillset of each pupil is assessed and these skills are developed by an individual learning program - each pupil will have their own tailor-made skill development program and as such, the best of each pupil can be delivered instead of mass education.

I'm 20, and I'm away at college, so it's not like I can just walk over to their schools. When I come home on the weekends, I've discovered that my mother's being neglectful/abusive, and other people who know the situation have agreed with me and advised me about contacting their school's nurse/counselor. I didn't attend public school (I was homeschooled), so I don't know how to work the whole system and get in touch with someone. Can you help me and tell me how I could maybe e-mail someone? Do you think they'd keep me anonymous? Thanks so much!

I have come across alot of questions that are very clearly homework....is it okay for young people to get "help" this way?? Or is is just a cop out??

And in the long run will produce alot of people with not alot of knowledge of what they should know....If understanding of information could be guaranteed then I wouldnt have a problem with this...I know that when exams come they wont know it and thats not right

Maybe its just the internet itself - information is at your fingertips....
