I'm 20, and I'm away at college, so it's not like I can just walk over to their schools. When I come home on the weekends, I've discovered that my mother's being neglectful/abusive, and other people who know the situation have agreed with me and advised me about contacting their school's nurse/counselor. I didn't attend public school (I was homeschooled), so I don't know how to work the whole system and get in touch with someone. Can you help me and tell me how I could maybe e-mail someone? Do you think they'd keep me anonymous? Thanks so much!

School counselors are required to keep the information they get anonymous. To get in touch with them, check the school or system's website (almost every school has one) and get the phone number and email. If you don't feel comfortable doing it that way, call your local Department of Family and Children Services. The social workers there will help.

Congrats to you for standing up and taking action! There are several things you can do...have you considered calling children services? They will not provided your name, should your mother ask them who called.
If you are still considering contacting the school. You could send them a typed letter (make a copy for yourself). This would also alert them to keep an eye out for signs of possible abuse...long sleeve shirts on hot days, missing school often, how they interact with others etc. Another option is to go in and personally speak to the principal or counselor when your siblings are in class. Explain your concerns, if you have other proof (photos or taped recordings of things said). If others who have agreed with you would also speak on your behalf, that would help. Whatever you do, don't let another day go by without doing something. It won't be an easy road to travel, but in the end it will be rewarding. God bless and best of luck to you and your family.

Be careful and take it slow girl. If you report abuse and neglect to the counselor, they are required to report it to Child Protective Services. CPS WILL open an investigation which means your mom might punish the kids by abusing them or take the kids and run. If the kids are taken out of the home, they will be placed with trusted relatives or put into foster care. Kids in foster care are often abused by their foster parents. The abuse and mental anquish can be worse than what they were faced with at home. Contact a trusted friend to start with and proceed with prayer. I would talk to a trusted pastor, but be advised, the pastor will also be required to contact the CPS.

There is one more option, if your siblings have ever stayed overnight at a trusted adults house, those adults could be granted temporary custody.

Wow that's to bad :( about your mom I mean. But you can't just walk in to his or her office. I know that at my school I can walk in and see my counselor she may say I a little buzy right now come back later but I eventuly a see her. Try going right as school gets out. The kids are so buzy trin to get out of school that there shouldn;t be any one waiting on him or her so he or she should have enouhg time to talk with you.

maybe you could get the name of the school that your siblings go to, then get the phone number. call and ask for the counselor, tell him/her what is going on and that you need to stay anonymous.
