The Science Project Question:
Do People Identify Fashion with Music Preferences, and Does this Connection Between Fashion and Music Change with Age?
The Hypothesis:
People relate their fashion and music interests and it is stongest when they are in their teens and early twenties. This hypothesis is based on the fact that most fashion and music entertainment is marketed towards a young age group. It is also based on the pattern that history shows between young people's music and their choice in fashion.
History's Connection Between Fashion and Music:
Flappers in the '20s wore clothes that were often gaudy and flashy at a time when music was becoming more fast-paced and dancing spots became popular.
In the late '30s and '40s, women began wearing dresses with shorter, wider skirts, that gave room for more movement, especially as swing music became popular and dancing became more energetic, with bigger, broader, faster movements. One drawback?
During the late '40s and '50s, the skirt hems got broader and women would wear multiple net crinolines under the skirts to make them billow out, especially at dances.
The later '60s and early '70s the "hippies" often wore more comfortable, ecclectic, natural clothing that reflected the attitude of the time -this attitude could be heard in the music of that era.
By the '80s, people were wearing what their favorite bands were wearing - whether it was bright make-up like Cyndi Lauper, torn jeans like Joan Jett, dozens of plastic bracelets like Madonna, etc.
The grunge era of the '90s brought torn jeans in again with flannels, vintage tee-shirts, etc. Goth music resurged and people began again wearing the black lipstick and white face paint once popular before.
Keep in mind that people have been dressing like their favorite singers and bands for many, many, many years.
The Experiment:
Try doing a survey people who are of different ages:
Aged 15-24, 25-34, and 35-45
Try to get at least ten people from each of the age groups for a total of 30 people.
Ask the the people following questions for the survey:
1) Name your favorite type of music (hip-hop/ country/ punk/ motown/ blues/ etc).
2) Describe the kind of style associated with that kind of music (baggy clothes, cowboy hats, mohawks, black liipstick, etc.)
3) Do you feel that you wear the kind of clothing associated with the music you listen to? (baggy clothes-rap, cowboy hat-country) Choose, Not at all/A Little/Somewhat/Very Much.
4) Do you think you can guess what kind of music a person listens to based on what they wear? Choose, Not at all/A Little/Somewhat/Very Much.
5) Do you think people can guess the kind of music you like based on what you wear? Choose, Not at all/A Little/Somewhat/Very Much.
Compare your findings.
Which age group most feels that their fashion is associated to the music they listen to?
Which age group most feels that they can guess the kind of music a person listens to based on their fashion sense?
Which age group most thinks that other people can guess what music they like just by looking at what they wear?
Is the Hypothesis right?

May I suggest a jacket with built in headset for your iPod. You can run the wires accross the jacket and the earpiece in the collar. Just insert the iPod in your breast pocket whic has a jack for your headset. Try to make it water resistant. Good luck.

seventy 5% of faculty pupils substitute majors as quickly as they get to college. meaning that 3 out of the 4 pals you have 'who know what they like to be whilst they become older' will quickly locate out they're incorrect, and that they like to be something else. do no longer subject approximately it now. there is lots greater to nevertheless see and adventure--you do no longer might desire to go with merely via fact all people else is (and making the incorrect options too)

The old saying goes:
"You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar".
However, has anyone tried baiting THREE fly traps, one with honey, one with vingar, and one with bull's hit?
