I need a quick answer!!! When you're talking about one student, do you say:
The freshmen student.
OR
The freshman student.

I need to know. I'm sending an email to my new college that I'm going to this fall and I'm trying to ask the art teacher a question about the classes but I'm stuck on the whole freshman or freshmen thing. I don't want to sound stupid to them by getting the word wrong.

Don't worry, this isn't a type of question that's helping me cheat. I'm just asking them a question and I need to send the email off now. Unfortunately, I can't go to my high school and ask my english teacher until Monday so I'm asking you all to help me. :)

Best accredited schools, scholarships/ financial aid, etc. All the information I find seems to be tailored to the "traditionally" aged new freshman.

Which is better? Getting a certificate degree from an accredited university or attending a certificate program offered from organizations such as AMA or ASTD?

The only problem is that she will make the ultimate decision. I'm very indecisive. I think I did good, the class liked it. My only fault was that I read some of my notes, but it was my first speech. Should I give myself an "A"? I just don't want her to think I'm arrogant.

Quote from an online article:

"Gayles was one of five students denied diplomas from the lone public high school in Galesburg after enthusiastic friends or family members cheered for them during commencement."

I think this is ridiculous. What about all their hard work to meet the academic requirements to graduate? The should only be held accountable for their own actions not the actions of others. Whats next? Next year will school administration tape the family members' mouths or bind their wrists so they can't clap too loudly?

Personally, I think it's a bit harsh. However, I understand where the principal is coming from.

When my daughters graduated from high school and then college. The principal and dean in both case's had asked the audience to refrain from yelling, etc and to respect the occasion. They both commented that the applauding and everything that goes with it were acceptable at the end of the ceremonies.

In each of the four times, the ill bred made their presence known. The college ceremonies were not that bad, but the high school one’s were awful. The very first one was the worst.

The principal had to stop announcing names, until one kid’s family quieted down. They were so loud; you could not make out the name the principal was trying to say. They were whistling, hollering and stomping their feet in unison on the bleacher seats. The principal gestured for them to be quiet, no luck. The vice principal had to go in the stands to ask them to quiet down (real classy bunch).

The (I’m assuming) mother had a few words with the VP and left the stands. A real special occasion for all of us in attendance.

I am totally appalled when reading this report . . .!!!

Were it MY child/adult???

I would definitely sue - and then -

NOT ALLOW my student to comply with the 'required' (arbitrary) eight hours of community service - in order to receive what they (and I) had worked 12+ years to earn . . .

OUTRAGEOUS control tactic . . . as one student said - with this policy, the attendees to a graduation would be able to manipulate an "unliked" student into an impossible situation.

I scored an 80. I know it's probably different everywhere in the country, but I was just wondering if anyone works for the USPS could tell me how long it took to get placed after they passed the test. I'm sort of getting anxious.

Ok, for my whole life, I have been a straight A student. i've always gotten A's and A+'s on my repot cards, and thats what i got for my first report card of this year. But then, for my second I got
Math- B+
Science- C+
History- A-
Reading- B+
Writing- B

Now, i know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it is for me!! Right now, i've gotton i bit better with my grades; my math is up to an A, Science is an A-, History is an A+, and writing is an A. but for some reason, my reading grade has gone down to a C+!!! I have no idea why becasue on my previous tests, I got all A's! I don't know why it all of the sudden went down! Please help me! I need to get my reading grade up to atleast a B or higher before the end of the year which is 7 school days away!!!!
