You can't find out an accurate number pertaining to Georgia, at least not with SAT scores. Why? Because GA pays for and tests ALL high schoolers which brings down the average scores whereas other states do not require everyone take it. Therefore it is only taken in most states by the cream of the crop college-bound and in GA the scores are averaged with the non-college bound. As a matter of fact, GA even has some of the ESOL population taking the test. So comparing GA SAT scores to the national average is like comparing apples and oranges. You'll find the score and I bet it will rank at the bottom of the list, and this is why. Interestingly enough, GA has some of the highest performing schools nationally, but you'd never know it by looking at statewide SAT scores.

Why do the testing officials do this and include the GA score? Or why does GA do this? Who knows? As far as I am concerned it is all a big mess.

These rankings are compiled by Morgan Quinto Press.
They report Georgia in 41st place.

Additional information available in source list (explanation of methodology and previous rank).

Well the Dept. of Education's website may help http://www.ed.gov but please, be fair to the south. Statistics can't mean everything, I'm from Alabama and I received an excellent education there. They key is not the place, the time, or the subject matter. It is the student that makes the choice to learn or not.
