Contact your local community college to see if they have a nursing program. Nurses are desperately needed nationwide, so there are waiting lists for most programs. But the nice thing is that you will have courses you need to take to be eligible, so most take them while they are on the waiting list, and finish about the time their name is called.

Most colleges require Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology before entering their programs. You may also need some basic skills (english/math) courses depending on the school you go to. The community college will spell out exactly what you need and how long it's going to take. From there you can work out a game plan of how to get it done.

Best of luck to you....we need good nurses! :)

depends on where you are thinking of going and your ability to be admitted to the RN program.

I know of several colleges with two year RN programs who may feel that a GED is adequate preparation.

Be prepared to demonstrate that you are college material on an entrance examination.

You might try googling "nursing degree" and your target location. See what comes up.
