read- books, newspapers, magazines
tune into the radio when you're working, doing chores, driving, doing hw (depending on your age), etc.
watch the news
watch talk shows (yes, like oprah)
watch informative shows (discovery channel, national geographic, history channel)
watch history-based movies (these are more interesting)
go to your library and just browse for interesting books. then read them ..
buy trivia cards and test yourself for fun
acquiring knowledge will take time, but if you memorize small trivial facts, they're easier to remember AND more interesting!

Most general knowledge is acquired through school, talking and reading.

read books, do crosswords, try reading the dictionary, once in a while do some math and study, pratice your grammar, practice your spelling play games, that take knowledge for example and main example CHESS!!, or that cube that no one can do lol with all the colors, you know which one i'm talking about lol, and yeah simple stuff like that, at least about 30-60 minutes a day or every other day

reading general knowledge book does not help instead expose urself to this world in a fair manner update urself to daily happenings , mingle wiyh the friends often , watching news channel will be helpful

anytime you don't know something ask wikipedia and then follow that page to atleast one interesting page it's connected to... that way you learn 2 subjects ^_^...
anything to do with actors and movies you can use IMDB... but generally think of something random and read a bit of that...
