Remember that most of the kids are scared, too. Some will do a better job than others in covering this up, but it's pretty natural to be scared when you start high school.

If there are other kids their from your junior high try to stick with them, at least to start (assuming you get along with them!). I'd also suggest getting involved in something you're interested in, like a sport or a club. Being around people with a similar interest will help you make connections a little more quickly.

Not sure if the academic side is a concern for you, too, but I'd also say make sure that you focus on the work so you don't have that stressing you out as well as the social stuff. The last thing you need is to have teachers and your folks on you while you're dealing with everything else. And don't be afraid to ask for help with schoolwork if you need it! I work in education and am regularly surprised at how students who could use the help don't get it because they're afraid of what other people might think.

Hope this was helpful, and good luck!

High school is probably going to be one of the best periods of your life. You should be looking forward to all the opportunities that high school offers. Still, keep in mind that most of your classmates feel some sort of trepidation. It's normal to be somewhat anxious in any new situation, but I think you're really overreacting.

Once you get into high school, explore the clubs and activities offered. You're sure to find something you love, whether in sports, academics, music, art, etc. Once you join a club or activity, you'll be part of a group or team. Within a few weeks, you'll be working together as if you had known each other all your lives.

As for the teachers, they're NOT out to get you! Teachers start out anew every year, just as students do. They want to prepare you for the future. Don't be afraid to ask them for help, you may be surprised how eager they will be to help you. Please don't ruin your summer worrying. Have fun, talk to your friends about high school and go in confidently in September. Good luck and have a great freshman year!

don't be scared...
when u get there try to make as many new friends as possible.. the more people you know, the more you can learn about the school and things you should avoid. try to become friends with older students also. they can give u advice on what teachers are good and bad. trying out for sports teams or cheerleading is a good way to meet new people at your school...if you're an outspoken individual it's easier to be noticed. when making new friends don't forget about the friends you already have.....high school is a fun part of ur life...enjoy it

No need for fear. Just be true to yourself. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks or says. The only person that matters is you. School will not be easy but you can do it, and years after you've graduated you'll look back on it and think "Geez! That was easy! It's this job that I'm doing now thats tough!"

Don't go in thinking you're nearly as cool as you were in Middle School. However don't be a total chump either, you've got to stand your ground. Don't try too hard to make friend, just be yourself and everything will fall into place.
