Quote from an online article:

"Gayles was one of five students denied diplomas from the lone public high school in Galesburg after enthusiastic friends or family members cheered for them during commencement."

I think this is ridiculous. What about all their hard work to meet the academic requirements to graduate? The should only be held accountable for their own actions not the actions of others. Whats next? Next year will school administration tape the family members' mouths or bind their wrists so they can't clap too loudly?

This is the most ridiculous reason for not granting a diploma that I have ever encountered. The students have earned their diplomas. I think a lawsuit is pending--or it certainly should be in the works.

I agree, it's a terrible policy and the school district looks like a bunch of malicious idiots.
