Higher Education (University +) - December 2007

As far as universities/collleges are concerned is covering the same question you answered in an exam in a separate essay self-plagiarism?

I've picked a question for my dissertation which it only recently occured to me I may have covered about a year ago in an exam (doh). I can't remember if i did, but i'm quite worried that I could end up repeating myself in my disseration. Of course it'll hardly be reproducing work verbatim, I can't even remember if i've done it!

If it is, how likely is it i'll be caught?

I am currently 15 (16 in a couple months). My plan is to quit HS, get a GED at 16. Then I would attend a 2 year community college, and try my best to do well and then transfer over to USC or UCLA at age 18. I would be going at the same pace as a normal high school student, entering college at 18. So what do you think of my plan? Will this work out? I am sick of High school courses and I work better independently.

I was going to do a bio major with teaching and a chem minor and go into teaching for a while. I'm also terribly bad at business so I wanted to do the minor in business too so I could learn about it for my own knowledge sake. But it's 10 extra classes, do you think I'd be better off without it if I want to go into teaching?

will it help that much in the job hunt?

so i got accepted to northeastern spring 2008 semester and ive been attending umass amherst this fall semester. i have to make a decision if i should i stay here, living in dorm with people i met this fall, or go to northeastern where i would have more academic oppurtunities but i would have to live at home to cut down tthe costs. it basically comes down to either having more of a college experience at umass or learning more and possibly a better future. any advice?

So I am finished with my basics at at a Junior College and want to go to a University for Architecture, bad thing is I waited to long to send my transcript, (it is due by March 1, 2007) and I should have sent it earlier while I had a 2.95 GPA. Now that its December I have finished with my JC courses and I got a D on one of my classes which is gonna drop my GPA. Anyone know if I can submit my old Transcript which was dated for early december or do I have to submit my most current transcript which will show my changed GPA for late December??? Do you think the School will want to see my most current GPA and question me as to why I did not show my additional classes that I had completed?

I am in the final year of sixth form and im studying englsh language, psychology and sociology. When i started sixth form i hadnt a clue what career i wanted. However, i realize now that i really want to study a course such as zoology or animal biology but entry to the course recquires the study of two sciences at A level which i havent done!
This is the only time i have realized i actually want to do this but i am sitting my exams in january and may.
The only way i could get onto those courses is if instead of going to uni next year, i get my a level in biology then apply again the year after.
Will colleges accept me as i will still only be 18 next year.
Im just really confused at the moment and dont know what to do. I dont know whether tp give up and settle with what iv got or to take the chance and do it and end up doing a course i enjoy which will hopefully give me the career i want.
Sorry for the length of this! Any advice or views will be so much help!

I have been talking with family about school and how grades are important. They say that if you do good in school you can get really good jobs? How is that? Do employers look at your grades when you apply for a job? I mean my grades arnt that good but I am pulling it up and probly transfering to another school to have a fresh start and have had decent jobs at companys so far so my resume is decent. How can getting my grades good land me a good paying job? My brother is making alot of money now but his grades are horrible. Do grades really matter too employers?

I am college student studying accounting schedule to graduate June 2008 (2 quarters left). Now I just took a P/T job with H&R block do taxes only until April 15th. Now will this look good on my resume for CPA firms? I want to become a CPA and so far i have NO job experience in accounting. In order to become a CPA you need to pass the hard exam and have 2 yrs job experience. Will someone hire me for this? I took a siginificant pay cut (and no benefits) to work for HR Block and now Im nervous whether someone will hire me upon graduation. (I applied at a few local CPA firms for internships and none of them hired me, not even a 2nd interview). Any thoughts?
