I was going to do a bio major with teaching and a chem minor and go into teaching for a while. I'm also terribly bad at business so I wanted to do the minor in business too so I could learn about it for my own knowledge sake. But it's 10 extra classes, do you think I'd be better off without it if I want to go into teaching?

will it help that much in the job hunt?

Don't do another minor, that puts additional pressure on you that you don't need.

Just take some business classes as electives. That way, if you do poorly, you can get out of them. Just take classes that would help you overall.

a 10 course minor is huge - that's a major in some Bachelor of Arts programs.

Taking courses for self-improvement is good - 30 semester hours of business may well be enough hours to get an additional certification area in business education as well. That's also an additional year of study and the cost that goes with it.

I'd suspect that having a minor in business isn't going to help with a science teacher job search. Having an additional teaching area certification in business won't hurt you any though.

Check out your options---if you want the business minor for self-improvement, try taking the classes over the summer. You could also take them after your graduation--come back for continuing studies and work towards the minor.

If it is just for your own knowledge, just go buy a business book and read it. If you are going to be teaching, use any extra courses for electives in biology and chemistry, or a few physics courses since they are all tied together.

If you were going into international relations or business and planned to minor in multiple languages, then it might be worth it. In your case, I wouldn't bother. Leave yourself free to take some other electives for knowledge's sake.
