In some cases, it shows employers that you have the knowledge required to do the job... it is however only half the story... employers also look for work experience, drive and a good personality in their employees and that's something you can't learn at University
There are some areas where a degree is more important than others... if you want to be a scientist/doctor/teacher then it's vitally important that you have a degree however in many other cases, it's better to get the work experience, and work your way up the ladder...
I have been with my boss when she has been shortlisting applications, and she has discounted many people who have a degree because they are relying soley on that rather than work experience, or extra curricula activities...
I am only just doing my degree now, once I have been working full time for 6 years, and doing pretty well...

1. sense of pride and accomplishment,,, just about anybody can graduate HS, but college is harder and it will give you memories forever
2. better job and more pay... these days most good paying jobs, especially the government require a college degree,,, the higher the degree, the higher the salary
3. better opportunity... when a company sees a person with a degree vs. a non degree, they will automatically look at the person who has the degree, because it shows they are committed to completing their task
and for # 4 ..... why not get a degree?

1. It can help you gain employment dependent upon what field you wish to go into - teaching for example.
2. It shows employers that you are dedicated to something.
3. It will promote further investigation/educational techniques which move on from A Levels.
The choice is yours! all I can tell you is that I gained a degree thinking that it would help me get a job but discovered that it depended upon what I wanted to do, luckily for me teaching was a really good option to use my BA (Hons) degree in Business Administration.

$900k additional pay over your life time vs a High School graduation.
Better oppurtunities in life for you and your children.
A piece of paper that sits on your wall that is actually completely useless AFTER you get the degree...
Seriously- it's worth it. While it might not seem like it now, it's not what you learn, it's that you learn HOW to learn.
