What can I say I had a rough and sporadic run and in the end burned out. 3 +1/2 yrs at a local school where I was matriculated with a 1.81 and a sting of summer and fall '06 classes at BU which I enrolled in for inspiration and in the end failed 6 classes straight. I know I am capable of the work and believe at another institution I could, and probably will succeed. Will I be able to get into a community college? And if that goes well for 2 yrs will I be able to apply to a decent University program. I'm determined to prove to my family that I'm moving onward and upward. Should I disclose my first 4 years of collegiate *&^*(&* ups when reapplying. And if I run the risk of being found out should i just change my name and social security number to prevent a prospective college from accessing harmful records. I know it isn't ethical. But if I go above and beyond these next 2yrs of community college don't i deserve a second chance and therefore merit exoneration from my acad. past?

The graduate program I would like to apply to requires you to have a faculty sponsor before applying. What is the best way to approach faculty members with interesting research in order to find out if they will be able to take you on as a graduate student? I was thinking of emailing them my CV and research interests, but other than that I am at a loss.

Thank you.

I was home-schooled and will be starting older than most students (26). Should I go to a community college first and then transfer/apply to a regular 4yr college to finish that last 2 or 3 yrs or should I apply straight for a 4yr private college? What are my chances either way? I always hear of ppl starting at a community college first then transferring. Note, I will be taking my SAT & CLEP before applying community or private.

I would really appreciate the best advice possible. Thank you very much!

When applying for a job that requires a degree, can they actually check to see that the degree and transcripts are real? The reason I'm asking, a friend of mine turned me on to this website that produces fake transcripts and diplomas and they look so real. His boss didn't know it was fake and gave him a promotion because he bought a bachelor degree transcript when actually all he has is an associates. What do you think? Too risky? Moral?

Granted, the degrees are in Art and Anthropology...Even after the degrees are earned, I would still have to get a teaching certificate! What I want to do is illustration. Any clues as to where to start without "starting over"?
