I am.. I'm a mortician...LOL Really I am a mortician But I went to college to pursue a Bachelor's in Mortuary Sciences.
As far as a job being "dead end", it's not necessarily your career, it could be your place of employment. Also, you do have to realize that in order to move on, you must first get a bit of experience under your belt. However, if you don't see any room for advancement, maybe you should consider seeking a position with another employer.
Whatever you do--good luck!

I am currently going to Cal State San Marcos, just north of San Diego (near Oceanside and Encinitas). I am a 43 year old, retired from the Navy. I am attending because if I finally earn my degree I will be able to get a higher paying job, much higher in a management position than I would receive if I was in the "labor" position. It is all up to you. Do you want to be a nurse? Well, go to school and get your nursing license. If you cannot afford full time school now, go to work and take some of your required classes on a part time basis, 1 or 2 a semester. It will not be easy and it will take longer but you will get a big reward at the end.

Define dead end job. As my Principals of Business professor told us one day. "I am a tenured university professor, and most likely will be until I retire, or die. I have a dead end job". As for college graduates flipping burgers? How can you afford to pay $960 a week and stay in business? That is the average weekly wage for a 4 year graduate.

Many Many Many. Of course it depends on so many factors. Geographical, mental, and physical. Those that choose to isolate themselves due to what ever reason will remain in positions that may not even have anything to do with their choice of study. But again, one must consider when out in the real world of making a living..........generally one does not even use one tenth of what one learns or is exposed to from what is considered higher education. Also one must consider for every position available...... many will submit a resume' and only one will be chosen. Competition is great and usually unless a very specialized area the position is filled from who you know, who you may be related too, or how well one can conduct an interview one on one.

Go Dance! Maybe those grads majored in the wrong subject. Maybe they figure a degree is a guarantee. Who knows? All the while it's really a bummer when you have that degree and the dude flipping burgers next to you is an illegal immigrant with no education and can't speak English. Ah, excuse me? Is something wrong with this picture?

The ones that are too lazy to put themselves out there and find a job in their field. The majority of the ones with dead end jobs are looking for a job to be given to them. Having a degree is great, but no one is going to hire you off of that alone.

Unfortunately...too many. It's not enough just to pick a major that you enjoy but you also have to consider what is in a great demand and pays well. Thats where so many kids go wrong. They just pick something they like and don't considered the job's salary, security, etc.

too many. I suggest getting a associate of the arts or sciences from a community collage so that you can transfer into a four-year collage if the need arises. but if you dont have anything specific you are pursuing, then why pursue a student-loan debt?
educate yourself on purpose. live on purpose.

I graduated with a BA...and now I'm working full time at a public library.....now I studied to be a pastor....and now I'm in the middle of a pastoral internship at my church. So in essence I'm doing two things...and loving it!
