I was an abused child. Ran away at 16. I didn't get to finish high school, but my gpa in high school was about a 3.83. Now I'm taking the GED and am going to a community college. I work 20 minutes from UCLA and it is best if I can get accepted into UCLA. This way I can keep my job. Is it possible for me to get into UCLA with my background?

I've been debating whether I should major in marine biology or in finance/business and it's about that time where I need to decide on a major. Honestly, I enjoy marine biology and wouldn't mind having a career concerning that, but the pay isn't well and I'm uncertain as to how I'll get a job. My parents have told me to major in something that will be easy for me to find a good and stable job (such as business or finance). What should I do? (Thanks!)

About a year ago, I was forced to drop out of college because I couldn't handle the pressure of professors in my face pushing me to succeed and it was affecting my health. Senior design was especially bad, because they interfered too much in your life and tried to make us into overacheivers (the academic type). Since I had earned a BS in biology a year before this when I had the hope that I could perhaps work on biotechnology (which I find so fascinating), I decided to go back home and live and work on my family farm. That only requires 15 hours per week and because I had problems getting health insurance, I was able to by some miracle get an engineering-related position with some actual benefits. I loved this because I finally felt adequate compared to all of my former classmates, who now have awesome jobs because the school cared about them. However, the pay was just under half of what engineers make. They say it's because I don't have an engineering degree.

I am really interested in doing
-Biology Major & Spanish Major
-French minor(my native language)

do you think it is possible to have such a schedule or is too much work? I am on the path to med school and I would really appreciate if I can be proficient in both spanish and French. So is this possible?

I know you can have a double major (bachelors) but I was wondering if you can get a masters in both majors if you did have a double major for undergrad, without having to go to grad school for a longer period of time or pay any more money

esp if the majors were related

I have 3 more years till I have to give the admission exam for med school and I started studying anatomy first because I really like it. It's pretty hard to get into the university I want; it's for smart and passionate people and I think I can get there, as long as I will study seriously. So... how can I efficiently learn by myself anatomy and physiology? I really want to be very good at it. :)

Could you tell me the meaning of the last sentence of the followings? Thank you.

There was, of course, an explicit message in the Shengda students' actions as well: a diploma from the "right" university is incomparably more valuable than just any old degree. Meritocracy be damned: pedigree counts.

(Shengda is a university in China)
