So I don't really get along with my roommates. I understand its okay not to be friends with them, to be honest they're not really the crowd I kick it with. But it would still be cool to have a chill relationhsip with them because I live with them.

I have a question. Let's say that I want to be a lawyer when I grow up. So this means that I want to study law when I go to a college/university. Well, if I go to a university and I tell them I want to be a lawyer, do I JUST study law there, or do I study everything (ie: math, science, history etc.)?

Have a bachleors degree, but cannot find a job in this area of New York State. I have a 6 yr old son and have recently became a widow which leaves me very little money to continue my education. I guess what I am asking is if getting an MBA would be as much a waste of money as getting my bachelors?

I live in GA and want to become a dentist. I have a 3.4 GPA and 1200+ sat score but i think i have a slim chance at UGA. From what i saw of last years enrollment information, U. of Tenn accepted 68% of applicants and U. of Kentuky accepted 85%, while georgia accepted 55%. But my thing with UK and UT is that they both add points (.5) to honors/gifted courses while UGA does not, which would bring my average way up for those schools.

anyway, if i dont get into UGA, should I go to either UT or UK? Are they good schools? Do they have good pre-dentistry/biology programs? Or should I look into other schools in GA? If you havent noticed, I really want to go to a big school. I want the traditional college experience that a small school cant really offer, as they seem like just high schools to me. I plan to apply EA to UGA, UK, and UT.

Shouldnt anyone be able to be anything they want reguardless of their ability to make extremly high grades in school, I feel that if one wants to be a doctor for example and is an average student they should be able to. This and other barriers to entry, I think are complete the opposite of free trade. Everyone should have the right to be a doctor and if he of she is bad at their respective profesion then socitey will not use their services, at least you should have the right to fail. Does anyone agree with me?

I'm applying to college [undergraduate] right now and I can't decide what I want to major in. I know the usual cliche, "major in something you love" but I want a major that has substance, one that will have good job oppurtunities. Anyways, I was considering economics but I haven't had economics yet (next semester) I was wondering if that was a "good" major. What job prospects are out there if someone majored in economics after getting atlease a masters. What are the courses like? I know it depends on the university and professors but the basic course can't be extreme from one university to another, right? I'm open to other suggestions. Thank You.

i attend a small-town school, i'm asian, my gpa is about 3.75, my got 1750 on the sat, but i'll take it again (estimated score:1900). i'm taking the most challenging classes in my school. i took ap chemistry and got a 4 on that, this year i'm taking ap biology and calculus. i got 660 on the SAT II chemistry, 720 on Math IIC, and 800 on Chinese. i'm in a lot of extracurriculars, such as president of model UN and debate club, vice editor in chief for the school newspaper, student council representative. i also do volunteer work for the UN, and i'm an assistant editor for a community newsletter. my essays are good, and my recommendations are not far off.
i'm thinking about schools like HARVARD, MIT, STANDFORD, AND UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN. i don't know if i can get in with my mediocore gpa and test scores. anyone help?
