To start with, aren't the answers in the reading your professor assigned? Even if you could get answers to all of these questions here your professor is probably looking for something specific from the reading. Anyways...

1. The two major ones I can think of are the East India Company (Britain - India) and the Netherlands - Java/Sumatra trade networks.

2. Many European countries took part in this system; here's a list of the most dominant ones and the areas they colonized in the New World:

Spain: Central America and most of South America excluding Brazil, plus Cuba, Florida and a few other Caribbean islands.

Portugal: Brazil

France: Quebec, Haiti, Louisiana

England: most of the eastern part of North America and Canada except for the French portions.

Netherlands: Curacao

It would take a long time for me to talk about all of these trade networks in detail but I suggest you read up on the history of these places and especially their connection with their respective European countries - that would be a good start.

I don't really feel qualified to answer the other questions. :( Good luck!

An essay is a short work of writing that treats a topic from an author's personal point of view. Essays are non-fictional but often subjective; while expository, they can also include narrative. Essays can be learned arguments, literary criticism, political manifestos, observations of daily life, recollections and reflections of the author.
The definition of an essay is vague, overlapping with those of an article and a short story. Almost all modern essays are written in prose, but works in verse have been dubbed essays (Alexander Pope's An Essay on Criticism and An Essay on Man). While today an essay is partly defined by its brevity, voluminous works like John Locke's An Essay Concerning Human Understanding and Thomas Malthus's An Essay on the Principle of Population refer to themselves using the term.
