Would you rather go to a college where they provide an excellent academic program of which you're interested in, or would you rather go to a well known, highly rated school just for the sake of bragging to people that you went there and major in something that you're not going to use?

I want to study it for self improvement not job prospects. Is it possible to become a better thinker through just self- reading the books or is a degree more helpful?

I am going to be entering college next year and was wondering if it is possible to have a major and two minors rather than double major. It will be a lot of work, but my minors are truly things I am interested in. Thank you!

I am thinking about going into the Pharmacy area as a career, but I'm not sure yet. If not, maybe I can find a career in the science fields. Does anyone know any good colleges out there with a strong science research background. I know some UC's and private colleges offer it, but I just want some other opinions. Nothing stupid, people. Thanks!

I was just wondering if I would look like a nerd if I brought my laptop to lecture and used to write all the notes. Plus how many people in your classes actually use their laptops to write their notes, I don't want to be the only one doing it.

I've heard of some states that will pay back your school loans if you teach for 2 years in return, or something along those lines. Anyone heard of this in Texas?

Okay. I am just wondering who else wants to get into the "elite" colleges? I will break my stats down. I am the secretary of my Key Club and plan on running for Vice President at the end of the year (I have been secretary for 2 years). I am a certified CPR instructor, am in the "Trial By Jury" program, I am in National Honor Society, have a gossip column in the school newspaper, am on the tennis team, am, of course, a minority, and the first one in my family to go to college in the U.S. (I heard colleges look into that kinda thing). I have a 3.97 unweighted GPA and weighted it is a 4.5 (or something like that). I am ranked first in my class of 530, and I got an 1800 on my PSAT's in my Sophomore year (they are making us take it for real this year). I know that's bad, don't worry! I have a bunch of ap classes this year, and I got a 4 on my world history one. Anyone in the same boat, and does anyone have any tips on me to improve my stats? (Besides getting my PSAT scores up.)
