It means a student has earned a grade point average of a high A- in all of the classes he / she has taken. The student earned an A in most classes, and probably a few Bs along the way. An A =4.0, a B = 3.0, a C = 2.0, and a D = 1.0. So the grades the student received are scored as I told you above, and then the number of units each class is worth is added up. Most classes are worth 3 units but some are 4 and ones with labs can be worth up to 5...it's calculated on how many hours per week the class meets. The the number of units is multiplied by the grade (translated into a score) that the student received. Finally, the scores are divided by the number of units the student took, and the result is the GPA.

Example: Student takes a 5-unit class and gets an A. 5 x 4.0 =20
Student takes a 3-unit class and gets a B. 3 x 3.0 = 9
5 units plus 3 units = 8 units
20 + 9 = 29
29 divided by 8 = 3.625 or 3.63 (after you round up)
The student's GPA at this point is a 3.63.

If your school is on a 4-point scale, 4.00 is a perfect A grade point average (GPA), 3.00 is a perfect B average. So you're somewhere between a perfect A and perfect B average, but it's a little higher on the A side.

If that is your GPA, good for you! That's really good!

If you're asking for a letter translation, it would be a "low A" or "high A-"--a 3.67 is the raw score for the A- in most cases.
