I am paying off my (much higher) federal loan and I genuinely cannot pay for both based on my income. I fit into only one of the deferment statuses - I was a half-time student, but I'm not anymore, so I don't think it counts. What can I do?

I have college loans from about 5 different lenders, and I want to combined them into one payment, is it possible? Is it normal to borrow from different lenders?

Right now I'm 20 and living at home. I'm going to school on a scholarship that pays tuition only. It's getting aggravating living with my parents and it's hard for women to take you seriously as well. I have a job too, but I dont get paid enough to live by myself with my check. The loan would be for maybe five thousand dollars (Is that enough for a semester?) I want to buy a tv, maybe some stuff for the apartment because I wouldn't have anything to start with, so I figure I need to take out a lot to pay for that. I could use my job to pay for rent and food. The loan would be for books, internet, insurance, cellphone, gas, and random other stuff that pops up. It would definitely help my confidence when talking to women and trying to host more friends which in turn helps you meet new people. That part figures in a lot. My job pays a good chunk of what I need, but for all the other stuff thats involved with moving out . . . i need more money.

advice?

A few weeks ago they decided to put me through verification. After all the paper work they said it'd be 2 weeks. It has now been 2 weeks and they say it will be 30 days.

I have no $ to buy books and I have assignments due on tuesday. I know it doesn't take them 30 days to read 1 page of paper. Anyone work in financial aid and know of a short cut?

I've lived in CA for seven years, my parents own a house there, and we even pay California tax. I've lived overseas for middle school and high school, and then I've been going to a UC, now I'm going into my senior year. Out of state tuition is way too much. My request for residency was rejected in the past. I have a CA driver's license and I pay rent.

How/where do i go about getting my residency?

I have attended a "tv" school in the past and left due to high tuition and limited education. However since I left they claim I owe them 765 as a past due balance... I was wondering if there is a student loan for past due balances? Because of the past due amount I cannot attend college anywhere else (which I desperately want to do!!) My job doesnt pay me enough to pay them off. Is there a such loan? Am I just doomed until I can find a better job (which I cant do because I dont have any skills!!) This is frustrating me so much!! Any advice is helpful, thanks in advance. (I have a co signor if necessary)

I want to go to college. I am 22, self sufficient, live alone, have a good job, have no contact with my parents at all (jerks) but, I want to better myself and go back to school. I went to fill out the financial aid form and there is a section that they have to fill out. they refuse to enter their info or sign the form, and I have been told since I don't fit any of the standard exemption criteria, that if they don't fill it out that i can't get aid or student loans. This seems very unfair. Does anyone know any ways around this, and if so, can you provide me with links to print up. I can't imagine that I am the only person who has bad parents that had to leave home early and who wants to go to school. this seems like discrimination to me and all people who want to better themselves but have bad parents. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

I went to jr college and graduated with a nursing degree. I paid my books and tuition every semester and drove to the local jr college. I never had any loans. Welfare paid for my books and a babysitter because I was a single mother.
A girl I work with says she has $40 thousand dollars in student loans to pay off and expects to have 90K in loans when she graduates. She had a scholarship that paid for her tuition and she still lives at home. What did she spend 40K on? Am I old fashioned or is that excessive?

He is a good kid. He was 19 when he graduated high school. He was a B student and wasnt really into sports or academics, so we just rolled with the flow.
He finally decided to go to college in building and construction. He did really well in building and trades and actually took 4 yrs of it in high school. He got awards and did work on the side for his teacher at his house.
Now he works full time at a department store and lives on his own with a girl. I think if I did not pay his tuition, he just would not go to college because he could not afford it, so I write the checks and off he goes to school 3 nites a week.
I never see a report card or any grade reports, but I assume he is doing good.
Should I pay his tuition or make him do it on his own?

What I want to know is, can you get this information without having to pay for it. You know how they advertise this but you have to pay for the information, to apply for these grants. Is there a web-site where you can go to, to fill out the papers without having to pay for this. I need assistance for medical problems.

I have more than one loan and I deferred one set of loans, but didn't realize that it wasn't all of them and now I don't know what to do. I would have qualified for hardship deferment, I'm in the process of filing bankruptcy (I know student loans can't go in) and garnishmentment which I'm not making enough to survive on right now (hence filing bankruptcy). I depend on my tax return every year to pay back family and friends I borrow from to make ends meet and car repair or emergencies that come up. I just wonder what I can do and I won't be talking to my bankruptcy lawyer for awhile. Any advice or experience stories would help.
