Hi, im 18 and im looking to go to an out of state college, but my parents wont let me. I'm also to the point where i cant stand living with my parents any more. Anything i do is wrong, they wont let me choose my major, and have just been complete jerks. I really would like to experience living in the dorms and just being in the college life. Right now my parents are making me go to this crap hole junior college in nm, and i really want to leave nm and go somewhere im happy like up north where they have seasons. I would like to leave to another state and college in a semseter or so, i just need to know what oppertunites there are to pay for college, cause my parents wont help me. I really want a college degree and live on the university as well as be away from my parents. some please help me and tell me what i could do to pay for this.
Thanks.

Perhaps tgere is a relative9in another state where you could 'rent' a room while going to a college and working at the same time - waiting tables is a student's rite of passage.

OR

Consider that the jerks that you call mom and dad may just have your best interests at heart. Maybe you are not ready for a life away from home. Talk to a friend who knows all of you and ask for honest answers - Ask "Am I ready for a college life away from this town?" "Do you think my parents are justified in refusing to pay for my college degree if I leave this state?"

At 18 you may leave your parent's home and go live anywhere you like, legally! They have no more hold on you, except as your parents and up to this point, your providers. If you can fend for yourself, pay rent and food, you can leave any time you like. Now, if you get late on the rent, or have a car wreck, or get beaten up and need hospitalization, you are ON YOUR OWN. See? Privileges come with responsibilities.

Study hard and do good things, and you may find yourself a graduate from a college where you earned the right to be out of state.

Best wishes.

up north is yucky beautiful land and weather but the people are rich and snotty and there was a car accident up here the lady died cuz she was left in the ditch for days people didnt stop and help her, thats how it is up here, im from wi by the way. sounds like your parents are having some control issues and a hard time letting go, you may have to move out on your own and apply for scholarships or work and go to college if you want to go, there are college loans but be carefull not to get a bad deal on them ask around and talk to friends about the loans. you can do it on your own do not listen to them telling you that you NEED them. be strong. you can do it! and have fun my friend, your first years of freedom are so great.
