I do know people who received grants whose parents were millionaires, one employed as Professor Chair of Engineering Dept. while on leave being paid by another University in another state. All 3 of his sons collected federal aid. Guess it's a matter of fraud.

Not everyone is eligible but everyone can apply. And many are stuck in the position where they have some money (or their family does) but not enough to completely support their college career and hope to get some kind of loan if they can. it's not only those with no money that have trouble paying for school. school costs are rising and many middle-class families are finding it hard to send their kids to school.

Have you ever known someone who bought a car?! I'm gonna guess that they got a bank LOAN. Even wealthy people take out loans on houses, boats and tuition. Anyone with good credit or someone to underwrite them can get a loan.

Many federal grants are awarded based upon financial need, (Pell Grants) but others are awarded based upon MERIT and HIGH ACHIEVEMENT. In otherwords if you are a hard, hard worker or in the top 3% of your class, there are government or businesses who value your hard work and hope that by giving you money that you will DO something for your country or their business. What's wrong with that?

Not everyone is eligible for grants and loans. Any one can apply. They say that getting the grant/loan is based on income or credit. That usually excludes individuals with little or no income. It has been hard for me to find a company to give me a loan because I don't have much credit and I have no one to cosign for me. We are in the same boat. I do, however, wish you luck.
