Right now I'm 20 and living at home. I'm going to school on a scholarship that pays tuition only. It's getting aggravating living with my parents and it's hard for women to take you seriously as well. I have a job too, but I dont get paid enough to live by myself with my check. The loan would be for maybe five thousand dollars (Is that enough for a semester?) I want to buy a tv, maybe some stuff for the apartment because I wouldn't have anything to start with, so I figure I need to take out a lot to pay for that. I could use my job to pay for rent and food. The loan would be for books, internet, insurance, cellphone, gas, and random other stuff that pops up. It would definitely help my confidence when talking to women and trying to host more friends which in turn helps you meet new people. That part figures in a lot. My job pays a good chunk of what I need, but for all the other stuff thats involved with moving out . . . i need more money.

advice?

$5,000 is enough, but maybe you shouldn't buy very expensive social appendages...perhaps take something from home instead? I know you really want to move out....but perhaps stop and reconsider? If not, then....
Take the loan, get a cheap apartment, practice living alone, writing your own taxes, paying your own money, cleaning your own room, having only friends to talk to...after all, if you get a good job right after college, you'll be able to pay the loan off quickly. If there's no chance of getting a very good-paying job (better than whatever job you have now), don't risk it...do you want to be in debt for life?

No! Stay at home and save your money!!! I dont think getting a loan to have a better social life is worth it. Get the computer if you need it, but the social stuff should wait, in my opinion. Though it might be a good social decision it is not a smart financial one.

Think of all you will be able to achieve once you graduate and with little to no debt i might add.

I'd take the loan for your needs (a computer counts as a need these days), but I think you can do without a TV. Also, if public transport is good in your area, it would be worth considering as it's much cheaper.

Are you considering getting a flat mate? It would split the rent. I understand you'd need to sacrifice some of your privacy but it's definitely worth thinking about.

Good luck!

I would live with my parents because unless its federal student loan interest rates are really high and they can get higher. But if you live or go to school in new jersey, you may be able to get a NJCLASS loan. It takes only a couple of days to process it. I applied for one on wednesday and was approved the next day. The interest rate is fixed and you can defer payment. Or you may contact your financial aid office for other options.

to save some money...try going to garage sales and flee markets..you can find some nice things there for pretty cheap..that's what i did when i was moving..plus, ask around with people you know...someone might have a tv or something lying around that they don't use that you can get for free!

good luck!!!
