I am a high school senior who will be attending Loyola University New Orleans in the Fall of 2008. I am a resident of The Greater New Orleans area and eligible for the highest TOPS awards. I recently spoke with the admissions counselors at Loyola about tuition, but I did not speak with anyone who was certain how much I will recieve. I have heard from 3500$ - 6000$ each year, but I am not sure.

Anyone who has used TOPS at Loyola or Tulane before would be a huge help!

Do they send it regular mail or is it certified? If it is certified, can anyone at my home sign for it or do I have to be there?

Does the student have children who receive more than half of his/her support from the student (question 51)?

Does the student have dependents (other than children or spouse) who live with the student and who receive more than half of their support from the student, now and through June 30, 2008 (question 52)?

Are (a) both of the student's parents deceased, or (b) is he/she (or was he/she until age 18) a ward/dependent of the court (question 53)?

My financial aid office is extremely un-organized.
Every semester, they have messed up my student loans.
They give me wrong dates consttantly as to when my funds will be disbursed. They do not know my student level as to my year, or the fact that I am an undergraduate or graduate. They give me false information and state it as fact. I dropped a class yesterday because the financial aid guy told me I can't take an undergraduate course even though I'm a graduate and it's approved for graduates. he told me this can't happen. so i changed my schedule and took a class that I didn't need. that's expensive. i called back to tell them about class change, and the woman I spoke with told me he was wrong and i can take that class.
they also never give me enough money for my semester.
i don't want to complain internally because of course nothing will get resilved. i want to take it to a 3rd party who will get stuff done. do i have a right to complain?

I am a psychology student and I was wondering if the federal government would pay back any of my loans if I work for a state university, school system as a counselor, etc., or the federal government in some other capacity. I have taken out loans including Stafford Loans, Perkins, South Carolina Student Loans, Key Alternative Loans, and Palmetto Assistance Loans. Thank you so much for your help.

I had a problem with my tuition last year. I was going to Loyola University in Chicago but because it was so expensive, even with Financial Aid, I had to get out. I switched to Truman College and last Saturday I registered late. They told me I had to pay today or I would get dropped. It wasn't like that in Loyola, I had all semester to pay. Now I have to pay the first day of school. My parents are going through financial difficulties and I couldn't possibly ask them to lend me the money since they don't have it. My financial aid hasn't come thru. I barely changed it last saturday and they told me that it hasn't been processed even though the customer service of FAFSA told me it would be processed by today! I have no clue what to do and I don't want to miss school! Please help me!

I hate high school and I want to drop out and enroll in a junior college that is cheap, but I don't want to stay there as ultimately I want to go to a state school, which will not accept me as a GED student but will accept me as a transfer student. Please, no "just finish high school" or "it's not that bad answers".

Me and my wife want to continue with our education. We are both 21 at the moment, with a baby on our way. No, it wasn't a mistake. Due to health reasons, we both decided to have a kid at this very young age (otherwise, we could have never had a baby). We want to return to college in the next two years, but we don't really have the money to do so. I was wondering then, do colleges like parents who want to come to school, or do they mostly condemn them? Do they offer better financial aid or worse? (compared to single, non-parent students)? You know of any organization that focuses on parents going back to school?

I filled out my fafsa.
However, something seems wrong.
My parent's total income and their adjusted gross income is completely different.
their adjusted gross income is almost double of their combined income. they used a 1040 tax form.

my dad filled this part out and i thought he might've misunderstood this.
is this normal?
