wow Cysteine was way off on this one eh?
online classes at Harvard U aren't at a "real college" deary? How about the ones at UMass, Florida State, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and probably whatever college you go to. You can even get Pell grants to take online classes at some schools that I concur are crap -- but then, you can get Pell to take classes on the classroom at some schools I think are crap too.
When are people going to look around and see the roses - almost every college in the USA offers classes online now. It's not new and it's not "fake" and it's not a "scam" and it's not easy.
Is it time to buy a clue?

Yes you can!
However, in order to receive the pell grant, you must be enrolled as a full time student, taking 4 or more classes or 12 or more credit hours (that is 3 credit hours per course).
Also, in order to receive the pell grant, you must fill out the fafsa by the deadline.
I am a full time college student. I started with a couple courses only going to school on pell grants, then, I started to get the sub and unsub stafford loans so that I would have something to live off of during and between semesters so I could go more than 12 credit hours and not have to work...
Now, I am taking 7 classes and getting ready for an internship. I get the pell grant, and the stafford sub and unsub loan. My pell grant pays for ALL of my tuition and for my books and what is left, I get a residual check for, and then my loans, I get the full amount of the loan in a residual check because my grant paid for my books and tuition.
I currently attend bluegrass community and technical college and I take all of my classes ONLINE through their distant/online learning system. :)
to add to my answer~ Cysteine is WRONG!! many many many MANY colleges offer online courses and because those courses are taught THROUGH the college, you ARE able to take them online even though you are going to schoolw ith a pell grant!!!
There are even schools such as ITT (ITT technical institute) that you are able to take online classes (from some locations) while your tuition is paid by grants!!
Just for PROOF sake, call the financial aid office at your local campus and ask if their online courses are able to be taken if you are going to school on pell grants. they will tell you YES. you can also contact my schools fin. aid office they will tell you the same thing!!!!!!!

Yes you can and I know 100% for sure and that is because I am an on line student and I got the pell grant. You do have to be enrolled full time you can talk to a fin aid counselor. I can tell you that it is not easy to do on line schooling and it takes a lot of dedication.
