I'm looking to transfer school for the Spring semester. Will my financial aid i've been approved for my current school be carried over to my new school since the cost is about the same, or will i have to go through the application process again?

I plan on moving out of my moms house next summber when I'm 19. I'm going to be going to school in San Diego. I know MOST apartment renters require a credit check. I do not have a credit card but would to get one to establish credit. My mother is totally against me getting a credit card because of the mistakes she made a teen. I've learned from her the kind person not to be when it comes to money. If anyone has any advice on San Diego and/or my credit problem...help please!

I am a 26 yro single white female. I will be attending Laney College in the spring. I have looking into financial aid at the college (EOPS) and filed out the FAFSA. I have worked for the last year, full time and I am finding out that working is really "working" against me!! I keep hearing I make "too much" money. I am going back full time and working on my lower division classes so I can transfer in a year. I am plannin on working part-time. If anyone out there can point me in the right direction for looking for grants/scholarships, I would really appreciate it!! Thank you

I do not have family or friends to help out with childcare and cannot live on $10.00 an hour anymore. I've been informed that the program I've chosen will require me to go to school during the day, and I live in a small town with very little child care options, no way to move and no support system. I just want to go to school full-time and get it over with ASAP.

Although I used to work in financial aid, it's pretty complicated to figure out terms, amounts I qualify for, etc. as my EFC was 1576 when I was working and did my FAFSA but with only child support now obviously the situation's changed.

Since I've been laid off, I've made the decision to go back to school and although I've heard of single parents going to school full - time and being able to live on FA, I don't see how this is possible unless I take out a ton of loans. Has anyone ever done this and how did it work for you? I'm going for an associates in Radiology

I go to a community college right now and I fill out the FAFSA and they cover my full tuition and my books and they even give me a real good amount of money back every semester and I can do whatever with that. They also gave me $4,000 for work study. But when I transfer to a 4 year college in which I will have to live on-campus, will they pay for my housing too or at least pay a part of it?
Actually... in a four year school would they pay my entire tuition and for my books and give me work - study too? or they will give me like a portion of the money and make me make a loan to pay the rest?

I received my Masters in December of 2006. My loans are at 44,000 and the interest is about 53,000, leaving me to pay about 97,000. That is a lot of money! Is there any help out here? I work in a depressed area. Does anyone know about the Chicago Public School System or educational system? Is there anyone that I could contact to help lessen thes payment?

How do u pay for graduate school if you owe $15,000 in Stafford Loans. Specifically Fine Arts graduate school. Is it easy to get grants from the government to pay for grad school if you are poor? Does being married help or hurt chances of getting grants?

My lender overpaid my school and I've gotten two checks. Do I send them back to the lender or what? Keeping the money will add aditional interest to my loan, and I'm not a fan of all that mess. But, I don't know if Wells Fargo would even take it because I don't think I can pay on my loan until I finish school.

I had fin aid from my school but I haven't been awarded any for this year. I pay out of state tuition and I don't want to leave the total burden of that on my parents. Plus, my rent went up for the year and my job just doesn't cover it.

I got a work study for 1500 for the year. They sent me a letter saying that I have to find a job on my own. I already have a job and because Virginia's min wage is so low, so i don't get paid a lot...i know i'm not going to be able to earn 1500 for the whole year.

So i'm getting a second job which pays less but I get to do my homework at hte same time so it's not that bad.

What i'm wondering is (i hate my first job--at the gym) is am I responsible for the work study b/c if its a loan, why are they going to pay me directly. I want to focus on school work so If i'm not responsible for my work study, meaning i won't have to take out a loan if I don't get the 1500, i would rather quit.

Ok, I am going to be going to college at SUNY Buffalo. I will be in the Pharm. D program which is a 6 year program that makes you a professional pharmacist. For the first 3 years I will be an undergraduate. My parents don't want to cosign but I think I can persuade them by telling them that they will only have to cosign for the first 3 years. After I become a graduate I will be eligible for my own loans for the remaining 3 years. I will also get a health professions loan from the school I go to next year so it will cut down the amount they have to cosign for. Will this work?

My kids are not in college, so I dont know much about it, but he has asked me if I think he is being shanghai'd.
He still pays support for his child until she gets out of college, but now her mother wants him to co sign a credit card loan and give her $6k. I kind of feel like if he is co signing loans, maybe the child support isnt supporting the child. I dont really know what to tell him, but I know he sure pays a lot of support along with all her medical, dental, etc.. He already paid tuition, dorm fees and all the rest. Do you think he is being screwed by his ex or is it that expensive to go to college? She is just a 1st yr 1st semester college dorm kid. What do they spend all the money on?
