I completed a student loan application and was credit approved, they said they just need to get some information from my school. Well its been over 2 weeks and the application is still incomplete and i need the money now so i can pay for my dorm or be forced to move out. Does anyone know how long this usually takes?
P.S Yes i have heard the bad things about sallie mae.. i wouldn't have applied for this loan from them if i didn't have to.. so please spare me the "don't go with sallie mae" talk.

I need some serious advice before I start give myself an even bigger headache. I'm a middle class student, with an average GPA (3.6). I want to be a Dentist, so I decide, knowing the insanes amount of money it takes to go to college for atleast 8 years would make me debt for the rest of my life. SO I decide to attend community college for my first two years! Now, I'm trying to decide what college to go to, and the amount of money is rediculous. My parents can't help me with this amount of money! I don't qualify for financial aid! What about the middle people! Scholarships don't really help becuase you have to show that you're poor, the poor people are already getting money from the government, what about the MIDDLE people? How am I supposed to pay for undergaradute schools and dental school? Theres supposedly so much help out there, but not for people like me!

I've gotten all the financial aid I can get, my college won't let me take out a private loan. They said my budget is full, but I still need more money. Asking for money from my parents is out of the question because they're not very well off anyway. I've applied for a job everywhere I can think of and nothings happening. I'm desperately trying to find another source of a loan, that I can pay back when I'm done college, that's not a student loan because that goes through the college and they won't let me get one. I have a lot of debt, still owe on my college bill, have to fix up my vehicle, so much. it's so depressing. help with some ideas please! sorry for rambling on, i'm just going crazy.

I graduated high school in 2005. At first i was sole bent on going into the military, but because of the current situation that the United States is in with Iraq, i have decided not to go. I have been working during the past two years living away from my hometown of Atlanta.

I have decided that now is a good time for me to apply for college. I am only 20 years old, so i don't want to wait too too long. Would you consider this a good option for me? I don't want to wait too long!

I had a loan from about two years ago that I have had to have a forbearance on... I want to go back to school but the deadline for aid has passed so I would need a loan for about 3000 to pay for classes and books. Would I be able to get another Stafford Loan through the same lender?

I don't pay much to attend the college I go to now but I dislike it. I wanted to go to another college out of state (after freshman year) but it's going to cost a lot of money (like 25k for the first year since I won't be a resident-I'm not sure about the last two years). I was wondering should I stay here all 4 years and save up or go to the state I want to live in? I guess some would say to move since you don't get your college years back, while others might say think of all that debt. I'm wondering if all that debt would be worth it-if it is suggested that I stay and save money, do you have any suggestions on how to make light of this because I always feel unhappy and compressed here. I don't want to do anything here. Before the idea is suggested, I don't want to get involved on campus as I don't want to have any more to do with my school than I have to. Nothing interests me anyway. Also it's not a matter of adjusting-I'm set here, I just dislike it- my school and state.

Because I can't get help from parents. Will student loans cover the cost of out-of-state tuition? I'd have to work part-time on top of that.

I'd love to hear from people with experience or those who have paid their own way through college out-of-state. Thanks!

Would you rather go to a school you hate for four years and have very minimal debt, or go to a college you like that is about 25k a year (for out of staters) and have to take out loans?

Hi, next year I'll be applying to Georgetown (my dream school), but i noticed that they dont give out any merit based scholarships except for sports (which dosent apply to me). However, Georgetown does offer financial aid. How poor does one have to be to qualify for financial aid?

My dad is a cabinet maker and my mom is a nurse, and together they earn about $100,000 before taxes. I have a brother and a sister that also need to go to college in 2-3 years. We have no college savings, but we do have A LOT of credit card debt.

I know I'm not poor, its just that we can in no way afford Georgetown! If accepted, is it likely that I will get financial aid?
